Edward K. Kaplan

Edward K. Kaplan (PhD, Columbia University, 1970) is Kevy and Hortense Kaiserman Professor in the Humanities, Emeritus. He previously taught at Amherst College, Barnard College, the Alliance Israélite universelle (Paris) and Pontifical Gregorian University (Rome). He is author of numerous books, among them  Spiritual Radical: Abraham Joshua Heschel in America, 1940–1972 (Yale University Press, 2007), which won a National Jewish Book Award, and co-author (with Samuel H. Dresner) of Abraham Joshua Heschel, Prophetic Witness (Yale University Press, 1998), a NJBA finalist. This one-volume biography is an updated abridgment of both earlier volumes.
